A visit from the Joiners

After Mara, Cole and Emma headed back home to Georgia. Kerry, David and Regan arrived to stay a few days before attending a wedding in Laguna Beach. We had so much fun playing with the Joiner's. Regan is such a sweet, smart and articulate little girl. Sam and Elise still call her Baby Regan...even though she is only 12 days younger than Elise. Sam asked me how old she was and I told him, "2." He said, "she talks better than Elise...maybe she's 3"

On Saturday night, Keith and I had the pleasure of babysitting Regan at one of the disneyland hotels. We took the kids out to dinner to the Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Disney, went swimming at the hotel pool, had an excellent view of the Disney fireworks and enjoyed a breakfast buffet with Goofy and his friends on Sunday morning. It was like a disney vacation without ever going into the park!
Oh! how can I forget?! Papa and Curly babysat for us on Thursday night and Kerry, David, Keith and I got to go out for an adult dinner at a great Italian restaurant. Thanks, Papa and Curly!!

Some pictures from the hotel.

Some from the Wild Animal Park.

A visit from the Johnsons

When the boys got home from their Utah trip. Papa and Curly were here. Staying in the beach condo they rented for the month! Mara, Cole and Emma arrived a day or two later to spend the first part of September with us. Here are some of the photos but to see most of them (there are a lot) go to http://www.farnsworth.shutterfly.com/. We had a blast going to Disneyland, the beach, parks, restaurants, and just hanging out.

This weekend Sam and Keith took a boys trip to Utah. This is the two of them when I dropped them off at the airport. (ORport - Sam calls it.) Anyway, notice his outfit? He insisted on dressing up for the trip, Sheriff badge and all and I think it is very cute. He was the most handsome boy in the Orplane. Keith says he was asking lots of questions as the plane readied for take off. At one point, he asked, very loudly, "Daddy, how do they know how to get to Uncle D's house?" Everyone around thought it was very cute that Sam thought the plane was going to take him directly to his uncle's house.

Back at home, Elise and I had a visit with Papa Han. We dropped the boys (Sam refers to the 2 of them as The Penis club) off at the airport and headed to the zoo. We had a great day at the zoo and I think Elise really enjoyed being the only child for a bit. Saturday, Papa Han went to the Del Mar Horse Races and I stayed home with Elise so she could nap and make up for lost sleep from the day before. Saturday evening, Papa and Curly arrived and started to settle into their rented condo - they will be here all month!

Today we picked Keith and Sam up from the airport and when we got home, Sam told me, "I am not your boy anymore. I still love you but I am not your boy." I responded sadly and asked why. He said, "Well, Daddy and I went on this trip and now I am his boy forever."

Later in the evening, when Sam was tired and getting ready for bed, he said, "On the trip with daddy I had a new head, but now I am home I have my old head again. I am your boy again, Mommy." Just too clarify, I said, "So when you were in Utah with Daddy, your new head thought you were Daddy's boy, but now you are home with your old head, and you are back to being Mommy's boy?"
"Yep"

I was happy to have my boy back with his old head.

Sunset Chili Cook Off

Here are some pictures from the annual chili cook off hosted by the Sunset Water Polo Team. This year the proceeds went to a cancer center in San Diego. Also, this year, my Chili came in 2nd place! Next year, I am going for first - last year I came in 3rd...so I am making progress. :-)

A visit from the Brodehls

In early august, Jen, Kalie and Ethan came down for a visit. We had so much fun! The four kids get along so well...not one fight the entire week! Sam is in love with Kalie, Kalie is in love with Elise, and Ethan has fun getting all of them to play boardgames. They even slept in the same room. It was a very cute week and Jen and I enjoyed all the time we had to talk and catch up.
